‘Green Lantern’ Casts Finn Wittrock in the Lead Role of Upcoming HBO Max Series In superhero movies, Green Lantern has become a bit of a punchline. The film, a big, expensive production that gave Ryan Reynolds a CGI suit, flopped when it debuted in 2011 and has been derided ever since, if not completely forgotten. However, it remains a valuable IP for Warner Bros., and we reported last October that HBO Max was developing a series based on the character, with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Seth Grahame-Smith as executive producers and Grahame-Smith as showrunner. According to Variety , Finn Wittrock has been cast as Guy Gardner, the series' Green Lantern. There have been several Green Lanterns over the years, with Reynolds playing Hal Jordan, but Gardner is “a hulking mass of masculinity, and, as rendered in the comics, an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism,” according to Variety. Guy, on the other hand, is endearing.” “The story spans decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth

Tyler Perry Gets His Flowers With Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award At The Oscars Tyler Perry was presented with flowers by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tonight. While Perry is known for his writing, acting, producing, and directing, it was his humanitarianism that brought him to the main stage at the 93rd Academy Awards. The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, named after the Danish-American screen actor who once served as president of the Motion Picture Relief Fund, was presented to Perry by Viola Davis. During his acceptance speech, the 51-year-old told a story about bringing a homeless woman to his studio's wardrobe closet and, after motioning to offer her money, she asked if he had any shoes for her. “I remember being homeless with only one pair of shoes,” he said. He stated that the woman kept her dead down throughout their interactions that day and that it was only when a pair of shoes were placed on her feet that "she finally looks up, tears in her e

How Has COVID-19 Affected Hollywood? COVID-19 has made 2020 the worst year in Hollywood history. We witnessed dramatic changes in how people watch movies, the demise of the theater, and the very essence of our industry, which was shaken to its heart. It's no surprise that Tom Cruise is yelling on stage. All in the world has changed. People went to the movies for warmth and escapism both during WWII and after September 11th. We were held at home this year, away from a communal arts celebration. It harmed us greatly, and it harmed Hollywood as well. In 2021, Warner Bros. essentially pushed all of its big releases to a new format, with them debuting simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters. Even after studios spent millions on P&A, most theatrical releases were pushed out of this year. This infuriated filmmakers and disappointed a large portion of the general public. It was thrilling to have new content, but it depressed many of us, who missed the crunch of popcorn and the soun

Tips for Backpacking With Your Dog Four-legged hiking partners are some of the finest. Before you let your dog loose on a trail, consider whether they're really ready to spend the night outdoors. Are they well-behaved and physically capable of making the journey? Consider how your dog could impact the experiences of other campers. If you've determined that your dog is ready, follow these guidelines to ensure that both you and your canine friend have a lifetime of stargazing adventures. 1. Review the local rules and regulations. Make sure your dog is permitted to accompany you on the trail. Our national parks, for example, are home to a variety of fragile habitats, so the rules for where your dog should go vary accordingly. Most national parks allow leashed dogs in designated areas, but trails and wilderness areas are often prohibited. Dogs are not permitted in some parks, while others have access to campgrounds and established areas. State and local parks have different rules

As Californians, we have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fundamentally fix our state before it is too late.” Her path isn't made of stone. There is a petition to recall Governor Gavin Newsom, which has gained traction in the aftermath of the pandemic. If the recall campaign is approved for the ballot, California voters will be asked two questions. Should Newsom be removed from office?   10 Things All Pro Dads Don’t Do One of your most incredible experiences was the first time you saw your child. Your emotions were nearly indescribable. Your thoughts wandered to how you would make that precious little baby's life better. Have you done so? Life moves on, and we all learn that parenting is difficult to work. That doesn't imply you have to be a bad father. Being a good father, on the other hand, necessitates sacrifice and diligence. Most importantly, it necessitates a man feeling and sharing a love greater than he ever imagined was possible. There is no such thing as a perfect parent and even the best make their share of mistakes. But when we are trying to be the best fathers we can be, there are things we definitely don’t do. Here are ten examples. 1. No Pro Dad avoids communication. Your children want your undivided attention. It means everything to them. Coming home from work, turning on ESPN , and tuning everything else out is the default for many men. Don&#

Top 10 Things Every New Dad Should Know 1. You'll have moments when you believe you've made a huge blunder. It's natural to wonder why you ever had a child in the first place every now and then. Allow yourself to mourn your pre-parenthood life from time to time, and forgive yourself for these moments of self-doubt. These are fleeting occasions. 2. Babies + Travel = Not the disaster you might expect. Most people are apprehensive about flying with an infant, but this is the best time to go. At three months old, all they need is a bottle or boob to keep them entertained. They have few needs and even fewer opinions, so the difference between Cozumel and Cleveland is insignificant (to them). Go get a tan while you still can.  3. Purchase a cordless, rechargeable hand vacuum. You'll be spending a lot of time getting things off the floor. Initially, it will be a variety of bodily fluids, but before long, you will be dealing with everything from Cheerios to banana slices. L
