10 Struggles Only Book Lovers Will Understand
Reading is more than a hobby for book lovers; it is a way of life. If you're one of those people whose entire life revolves around books, chances are you have your own quirks that your friends and family constantly point out. So, here's a little something for you. Check out this list of Bill Gates' recommended books! Only when you're in the company of another book lover do you feel understood. It is true that it takes one to know one. Loving books comes with its own set of challenges. But, what's a struggle when there's true love? If you've experienced these difficulties, know that you're not alone. Being a book aficionado is a difficult job.
1. Are you a book lover who is constantly running out of shelf space?
Isn't it amazing how little space you have in your rooms? You have an insatiable desire to read and collect books; there would never be enough space. That hasn't stopped you from buying more books, though. We've all seen how inventive you can be when there's a good cause at hand, especially when it involves books.
2. How is your library coming along?
Have you ever met a reader who does not aspire to own their own library? Any book lover will tell you that their dream destination is the library of their dreams. Book lovers are simple creatures; all they need is a comfy couch, some coffee, and a good book. Once they have these items, you can watch them lose themselves in a world created entirely by their imagination.
3. Wow, so that's how you say that word!
Isn't this one well-known? There are only so many words you can Google and hear how they are pronounced. Most of the time, you've only spoken them in your head, pronouncing them in the most logical way possible. Without a doubt, learning the correct pronunciation of this one has given all book lovers far too many laughs.
4. There is one more chapter to go – Everyone who enjoys books understands that there is never enough time.
Have you ever read a book that you couldn't put down? The reason you no longer begin a book late at night in the first place. Book lovers, on the other hand, aren't exactly known for their patience or careful thought. Often, you start a book and promise yourself that you will finish it by 9 p.m. The next thing you know, it's 9:01 a.m. and you're already way past your bedtime, so what's one more chapter going to hurt? As it turns out, not a very convincing argument when you're on your way to work with baggy eyes and a dizzy head.
5. A book so good that you now have a hangover from it.
“The world has come to an end, and there is no longer any reason to live.” Those are the words of a dying man, aren't they? No, not at all; that's what a book hangover looks like, and believe it or not, it happens quite frequently.
6. Signs that you are a book nerd – zoning out in the middle of conversations
Have your friends ever flicked you to get you out of your reading rut? Congratulations, you are a true book aficionado. You've entered a world that has completely captured your attention once you start reading. You live with them, grow up with them, and fall in love with them. It's a lot to take in over a few days, hours, or even weeks. When you're in that world, however, everything else fades into the background. That's your zone now, and you're not going to be able to get out of it easily.
7. Calling all bookworms: do you still lend your books to others?
Why don't people return books? Someone who enjoys reading is likely to want to share their enthusiasm with others. That is why you enjoy lending your books to those around you, whether they are friends, acquaintances, or coworkers. However, every book lover has had a bad experience lending their prized possessions to someone else. Some have received their books with ripped pages, dog-eared pages, and marks all over their beautiful skins, while others have never received them at all. And people wonder why you act so strangely when they ask you to lend them a book.
8. Yelling in the theaters – the book was better
If you have a favorite book that is being adapted into a film, here's how you can watch it: No way! Aside from jokes, there has almost never been a movie or television series that was better than the book. Ask the people around the readers how many times they've heard their friends rant about how the movie people messed it up.
9. We are bookworms, and we will always buy more!
Book lovers include not only those who enjoy reading, but also those who wish to establish their own libraries. It could be as simple as a small shelf of books, but once they have it, they are ecstatic. Then there are those who continue to buy more and more even though they have no room to store the books. They haven't even read all of the books they have strewn about their house. I'm sure you're eyeing a great book at your favorite bookstore right now!
10. Where do you find a bookmark when you need one?
It's a reader thing to forget the page number you last read. You may have a plethora of bookmarks lying around, but you may never know where they are. What's the deal with bobby pins? You could buy a hundred of them and still have no idea where they all ended up. Readers and bookmarks have the same relationship. It's a lost cause; why bother looking for them when you can just use a tissue, receipt, or whatever is nearby to mark your page? After all, remembering the page number is the goal, right?
