We figured that since the national holiday seems to elicit a healthy dose of nostalgia, what could be more nostalgic than seeing some classic mom-centric films? There are a plethora of films that explore our complex and beautiful relationships with our mothers. Calling up your mother to watch a movie is a perfect way to pass the time and reconnect with your family when many of us are still self-isolated. We've chosen some of our favorite films to watch with our mothers over a bucket of popcorn.

Lady Bird (2017)

Greta Gerwig wrote and directed this sweet coming-of-age film, which stars Saoirse Ronan as Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson. It follows 17-year-old Lady Bird as she navigates boys, high school, friendship, and her turbulent relationship with her mother in 2002 Sacramento, California.

Freaky Friday (2003)

What are you waiting for? This is a classic, and if you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis star as a mother and daughter whose bodies are switched in this hilarious comedy. Come for the nostalgia, stay for the laughs; it's the perfect Mother's Day feel-good film.

Mother’s Day (2016)

This gem will be missing from every Mother's Day movie list. If you and your mother enjoy ensemble cast films, you will enjoy this. This story follows the lives of various mothers on Mother's Day, as well as the antics they engage in. Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts, and Jason Sudeikis are among the cast members. Tully (2018)

This is a film that the whole family will enjoy. Princess Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is an accomplished archer and the daughter of Queen Elinor in a fictional Scotland (Dame Emma Thompson). When Merida inadvertently casts a curse on her mother, turning her into a bear, she must embark on a quest to right the wrong.

Snatched (2017)

After she and her boyfriend split up right before their holiday, Emily (played by Amy Schumer) finds herself suddenly alone. Now that she doesn't have a travel companion, she decides to invite her mother Linda (Goldie Hawn) to accompany her, and things get strange (for them) and hilarious (for the audience).

Bad Moms (2016)

The film Bad Moms has an ensemble cast as well. When three mothers are forced to their breaking point, they abandon all obligations in favor of independence and self-indulgence. Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, and Christina Applegate star in this film.

The Parent Trap (1998)

The Parent Trap is another Lindsay Lohan classic for the books. At birth, identical twins (both played by Lohan) are separated and adopted by one of their parents. They make it their goal to reunite their families after they both end up at the same summer camp and become close. This is the ideal, family-friendly film to watch on a quarantined Mother's Day.

Juno (2007)

Juno (Ellen Page), a 16-year-old girl, finds out she's pregnant by her best friend Bleeker (Michael Cera). Juno agrees to give birth and place the baby for adoption while waiting for an abortion in a film that is a humorous, tender ode to the complexities of motherhood.

The Kids are All Right (2010)

The Kids Are All Right follows 18-year-old Joni (Mia Wasikowska) on her quest for her biological father. She and her brother Laser (Josh Hutcherson), who was raised by a lesbian couple (Annette Benning and Julianne Moore), are desperate to find their roots. Things take a turn for the worse when their father (Mark Ruffalo) isn't the picture-perfect man they expected.
